Privacy Policy

Hallstack LLC (“Hallstack,” “we,” “us”) is a software consulting and digital products company based in Austin, Texas, operating the website hallstack.dev. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

When you contact us or work with us, we may collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, phone number, business name, and project details (such as goals, budgets, and descriptions of your business operations).

When you visit hallstack.dev, we may collect standard analytics data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. If the site includes contact or inquiry forms, we collect the information submitted through those forms.

We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to understand how people find and use hallstack.dev. Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies in your browser — named _ga and _ga_ followed by a stream identifier — so repeat visits can be told apart. Google Tag Manager itself sets no cookies.

What we collect is limited to how the site is used: pages viewed, which links and calls to action were clicked, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. Google Analytics does not log or store your IP address; it is used briefly to estimate a general location and then discarded.

Analytics event data is retained for 14 months, after which it expires from the analytics property.

We do not use this data for advertising or remarketing. Google Signals and Google’s advertising features are switched off for this property, no Google Ads account is linked to it, and we do not build advertising audiences from visitors to this site. If any of that ever changes, this policy will be updated before it does.

We never send names, email addresses, phone numbers, message contents, or anything else you type into analytics.

We use the information we collect to:

• Respond to inquiries and communicate about projects
• Scope, deliver, and support the services you engage us for
• Send invoices and manage billing
• Understand how the website is used so we can improve it
• Meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use client data for advertising to anyone else.

We use reputable third-party services to operate the business — for example website hosting, analytics, email, call and form tracking, and payment processing (such as Stripe). These providers process information on our behalf under their own privacy policies. Payment card details are handled by the payment processor and are never stored by Hallstack.

During an engagement, we may access customer lists, analytics accounts, and other business data that belongs to the client. That data is used only to deliver the agreed services, is treated as confidential, and is returned or deleted at the end of the engagement on request.

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

You can stop analytics collection at any time from your browser: block or delete cookies for hallstack.dev, clear the site’s stored data, or install Google’s official opt-out browser add-on, which disables Google Analytics on every site you visit.

Clearing cookies stops future collection and discards the identifier your browser was using. It does not retroactively delete data already collected under that identifier.

A note on deletion requests, so the limits are clear. Analytics data on this site is not linked to your name or email address — a visitor is only a random identifier stored in that browser’s own cookie. That means we cannot look up or delete your analytics history from an email address, because we would have no way to tell which records were yours. If you want a particular browser’s analytics record deleted and can provide that identifier (the value of the _ga cookie for this site), we can submit a deletion request for it.

For information you have sent us directly — an email, project details, or anything provided during an engagement — you can request a copy, a correction, or deletion by emailing jack@hallstack.dev. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision, and continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
